The 3rd biomass gasification & bio-base green methanol forum is to be held on Dec 16th 2025 in Chengdu. The conference would explore and discuss green methanol capacity planning & biomass gasification market foreground, marine-use green methanol, green ammonia and green LNG competition pattern, biomass gasification & water electrolysis to green hydrogen coupled green methanol process and cost, biomass breaking & molding pre-treatment equipment, fixed bed/fluidized bed/gas-flow bed and thermal cracking biomass gasification processes & demo experiences, bio-base syngas cleaning process & equipment, bio-base methane to green methanol production etc.


Biomass gasification is the core process in bio-base green methanol production. Similar to coal gasification, biomass gasification can be subdivided into fixed bed gasification, fluidized bed gasification, gas-flow bed gasification and thermal cracking gasification, and also include the raw material pre-treatment, gasification and syngas cleaning units. China has cumulated deep technology expertise, abundant engineering and operation experiences as well as powerful equipment manufacture capability in coal gasification field, providing foundation for successful biomass gasification operation. The planned green methanol projects totalizing dozens million tons annual capacity would also bring up tremendous business opportunities for the technology and equipment suppliers as well as engineering companies engaging in biomass gasification industry chain. 

 

As shown in ASIACHEM China Green Methanol Industry Chain Annual Report”, the green methanol is mainly produced from the biomass gasification to green hydrogen coupling process. Stable supply of biomass raw material and pre-treatment thereof, biomass gasification process, waving green power-based large-scale water electrolysis to hydrogen, flexible methanol synthesis process & catalyst thereof are the main focuses of the industry concern. Besides biomass gasification, bio-base marsh gas (methane) steam reforming to green methanol is also a process route worthy of notice.

 

ASIACHEM China Biomass Gasification Process & Project Annual Report” pointed out that the  large-scale and stable supply of biomass raw materials is the key to the project success. Biomass gasification raw materials include agriculture wastes, forestry wastes and urban organic garbage etc. Biomass raw materials are typically low-value products with the transport cost accounting for a bigger proportion and, therefore, rationally planned project capacity would be necessary to ensure sufficient biomass raw material availability economic transport radius. By the same time, large-area cultivation of energy plants such as super reed bamboo etc is also expected to become an important source of raw materials for biomass gasification.
